The Club

Heinemann Cricket Club has been playing friendly, midweek cricket in and around Oxford since 1989. The club draws a broad mix of ages and abilities — not league cricket, but everyone expected to bat, bowl or field to a reasonable standard — and plays one evening a week through the summer, with home fixtures at Brasenose College Sports Ground and away trips to village and club grounds across Oxfordshire.

Scores and stats have been kept meticulously by Paul Shuter throughout, which is why the Records go back so far. A fuller history of the club's near four decades is something we'd like to build out here in time — if you have stories, photos or old scorebooks from Heinemann's history, we'd love to hear from you via the Spond or WhatsApp groups below.

We're always looking for new players. Heinemann is a midweek evening club: we play once a week through May to September, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday, with matches normally starting at 6pm (slightly earlier later in the season when light gets tight).

Home matches are played at Brasenose College Sports Ground in Oxford. Away fixtures take us to village and club grounds across Oxfordshire.

There are modest match fees and annual subs to cover ground hire and equipment. We have a broad mix of ages and experience — not league level, but you should be able to bat, bowl, or field to a reasonable standard.

The easiest way to get involved is to join our Spond group where we organise availability for each match, or drop a message in the WhatsApp group to say hello — either is the quickest way to reach the club.
