Thank you all for contributing to another hugely enjoyable season. Win or lose, cricket is only fun because of the people who play it — and this year we had a fantastic mix of old hands and new faces who brought energy, humour, and commitment, even when results didn't always go our way.

Our record of five wins and nine losses may not break records, but there was plenty to celebrate. The bowling attack that began with the menace of Hikmat, Ambrose, and P. Atkinson ended with the only slightly less terrifying trio of Buswell, Wright, and Barringer — yet it was this latter group who produced one of the highlights of the summer, restricting Immunocore to 98 and defending our total of 104.

"Bowling was, in fact, a real strength. Winter nets are paying off."

Special mentions to I. Wakefield and I. Wright for consistent wickets and economy; T. Wright for his rapid rise as our deadliest leg-spinner; and J. Russ, still chasing down S. Shannon for the all-time wicket record.

Batting never quite caught fire, with some of our most reliable batsmen falling short of past glories. That said, the foundations remain strong — and perhaps next year we can embrace a more ambitious approach. "Buzzball", anyone? Special credit to C. Pringle, who climbed to 8th on the all-time run scorers list.

A special milestone off the field Paul and Simon both turned 70 this season. Their commitment is the reason so many familiar faces still take the field — and the stats remain to back up old anecdotes.

Paul regularly captained and kept wicket this season, even returning figures of 3 overs, 14 runs, 2 wickets in one memorable performance.

Thanks too to Omer and Danny for making Brasenose possible, Aaron for his sharp eye in recruitment, and Chris for tireless work as secretary and selector. (And if anyone can find a reliable babysitter, the whole squad will be forever in your debt.)

So, as we wrap up another year, thank you all for playing your part in the club's past, present, and future. Enjoy the winter break, recharge, and come back next spring with the same positive energy that makes this club what it is.
